Adoption Process

and Educational Links

See a foster you would like to adopt?

  • The more you learn about the breed you are thinking about adopting, the better. We hope that every potential adoptor will research the breed as thoroughly as possible before making the decision on whether this breed is the right one for the family.
  • Listed on this page are links to some of the many sites with all kinds of information about the breeds we love and work with. If you decide that the Italian Greyhound is the breed for you, included to the right are links to printable or online applications for adopting an Italian Greyhound in Indiana or other states.
Once you have completed and submitted the application, one of our volunteers will contact you and all the people listed as references. A home visit is required before final approval. The visit is not an inspection, but designed to help make sure the home is a good match for the rescue. All residents in the home must be present for the home visit.

Volunteers:
Volunteers are the lifeline of any rescue organization. We depend on volunteers to help care for foster dogs, transport, participate in the application approval process, conduct home visits, and participate in fund raising events. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with Indiana Italian Greyhound Rescue, please print and fill out the application at the right and send to the address listed in the application. The approval process is the same as the adoption application approval process.
